All the Details:

Oak Flat welcomes fiction writers Susan Solomon and Ericka Lutz for readings from their new books. Susan is the author of A Soft Landing? A Novel of Choice, Compassion, and Resistance. Ericka is the author of San Andreas: Short Fiction on Shaky Ground.

About A Soft Landing?:
An upbeat and quirky novel that carries a serious theme of female autonomy and reproductive rights as well as individual responsibility and participation in protecting those rights. Local politicians, a shadowy mega-church, a scrappy and unpredictable Texas refugee, and a seemingly endless parade of young women needing help—Laura Bergman just wanted a puppy and a relaxing retirement. With a dash of humor, action, empathy, and truth, she finds herself enmeshed in the polarizing and perilous world of helping and protecting women facing tough decisions in post Roe v. Wade America.

About San Andreas: Short Fiction on Shaky Ground:
Unseen fault lines—between lovers, families, humans and animals—rupture beneath ordinary lives in a fictional Northern California town. In San Andreas de Pacifico, the ground is unstable. A woman hears the elephants speak, but only before earthquakes. A long-married couple scales a cemetery wall to regain their passion. A mother dreams of planting a poison garden. An old man, losing himself to dementia, finds an abandoned baby. A struggling writer gains freedom in her effort to rescue a beached whale. Across twelve unflinching, lyrical stories, Ericka Lutz brings her distinctive voice to unforgettable characters experiencing unpredictable shifts; characters yearning for connection with each other and the natural world.
